How to Create and Animate Spiral Orbits With Geometry Nodes

Ilir Beqiri adds to the Creative Coding series, showing how to create spiral orbits using Geometry Nodes in Blender.

This new Creative Coding tutorial from Ilir Beqiri breaks down his latest motion graphics piece and shows how to create and animate a spiral curve coiled around a central ring using Geometry Nodes.

The system uses the built-in curve attributes in Blender, including Normal and Tangent vectors and Tilting attributes.

“Extruding vertices is an excellent technique to generate connecting wires, but during the curve-to-mesh conversion, the mesh vertices lose the built-in curve control points attributes,” Beqiri notes, and that’s where the importance of the Capture Attribute comes in.
