Using V-Ray Displacements To Create Architectural Moldings

By March 17, 2012No Comments

The FreeCGBlog posts a tutorial showing how to create intricate architectural moldings using V-Ray Displacements that are generated out of Autodesk Mudbox. This is in 3ds MAX, however the concepts and V-Ray settings are pretty much the same in any application.

This tutorial starts with a displacement map generated out of mudbux. It then goes over how to use this map, in conjunction with a sweep and a Vray displacement modifier, to make nice and quick architectural molds. The technique outlined here can be used for many different applications in 3d.
