Creating a 3D Phone in After Effects

VinhSon Nguyen demonstrates how to create a 3D iPhone in After Effects using the standard 3D tools available creating it so that the screen image can be replaced easily. VinSon uses the multiple layer technique to fake a 3D extrusion, and adds glossy reflections and shadows for a pretty convincing end result.

VinhSon Nguyen writes: Hey folks, today we’re going to be taking a look at a simple approach to building a basic iPhone model within After Effects. We will be designing the phone purely in After Effects with easily replaceable screen content, then we will extrude the phone to add some pseudo depth, and finally we will add some cool glossy reflections and shadows.
