Create and animate 3D Gears in After Effects

By September 4, 2012No Comments

Chris Zwar demonstrates how to utilize After Effects CS6’s 3D capabilities for building and animating rotating gears right inside After Effects.

This quick video tutorial shows you how to create your own cogs inside of After Effects, and demonstrates a simple technique to ensure they animate together seamlessly

With this two part look, chris shows the basics of how one might create your own gears in After Effects from scratch, and part one looks at some of the problems that may occur when trying to animate the gears, and how those problems might be solved. Part two builds upon the concepts laid out in part one to produce nice looking extruded raytraced gears that mesh together in the animation.
