unlimited detail technology, unlimited point cloud data in software

New startup, Unlimited Detail Technology claims to use a “3D search algorithm” to allow realtime and selective display and rendering of unlimited amounts of point cloud data for some super detailed environments. Not sure how legitimate these claims are, when I hear things like “We sent our tech demo to a certain company and they didn’t want to abandon polygons, so they refused to let us through tot eh board of directors.” it makes me wonder why that would be the case.
