The Effects panel in After Effects is pretty easy to navigate. Since the addition of the ability to search through thousands of effects, it is pretty easy to find what you are looking for. That doesn’t mean that will eliminate all the bouncing around, however.

This is why Motion Graphics artist Shawn Wang has created FX ToolBox. You can quickly store frequently used effects, and use them in your project.

Like the standard Ae panel, you can add an effect by double clicking it in the FX ToolBox panel. The script will also let you do the standard After Effects type of things, such as add effects to multiple layer, or add multiple effects to a layer or multiple layers.
