Vlad Yudin unhappy with the modeling features available in Houdini, recklessly integrates Maya as a modeling tool and takes us through this radical idea and workflow. This is a cool idea as I am completely tired of how MS Word builds 3D objects… I know what I need to do ;). Just kidding of course, interoperability is always a good thing!

Tired with “bad” Houdini modeling? Why then not to integrate Maya as Houdini Modeling tool? I am happy to show live Maya-Houdini integration. All surface information/modification will affect Houdini SOP immediately. That could be completely live connection or “connection-on-demand”, when Houdini geometry will update after mouse button release in Maya (keep the performance of network connection). The pipeline completely platform-independent. Maya user can work somewhere in UK on PC but Houdini can work, for example, in USA on Linux server! Houdini geometry will be re-created after lost connection/houdini crash/geometry deleting accedetly etc.
