Walter from Tigerpa.ws shows off this cool little thing he created – a robot (which is cool enough on its own) that feeds its limb positions to Houdini in real time – how sweet is that?! I do remember that a long long time ago you were able to purchase a “monkey” that had input to 3D programs that you were able to pose… wonder what happened to that product/company/thing…
Robot live to Houdini from tigerpaws on Vimeo.
“Here is my robot with 16 RC servo motors controlled by a RoBoard servo motor controller board feeding live the servo motor positions to Houdini, a 3D animation application by Side Effects. I am using the PipeIn CHOP in Houdini and some C++ code I wrote on the robot. This demonstrates live motion capture in Houdini and shows how Houdini can be used as a tool for robotics.”
