How to Create Procedural Anisotropy With Karma in Houdini

By February 20, 2024No Comments

cgSide uses a Cake-Pan model to show how to UV, shade, and create a procedural anisotropy effect in Karma.

This new tutorial from guide shows how to create a Cake-Pan asset, UV, and shade it and create the metal anisotropy effect in Karma using procedural techniques.

A few things come into play to create a realistic metal material, primarily replicating the look of cookware, no matter the render engine.

cgSide starts by modeling a cake pan and then shows how to create the material. The material uses a spiral ramp to create the anisotropy effect, and a noise map to create the bump effect. The tutorial also shows how to add extra roughness to the material to help sell the look.
