If you need more proof that Insydium’s X-Particles for Cinema 4D is an amazing tool, Mike Batchelor shows how you can use the particle system to create corrosion effects for animation. Over the last little while, there has been some commotion on setting corrosion effects for corrosion effects using C4D’s Vertex Weight Maps. Since then, that has led Mike to create a freely available Xpresso driven tool that helps automate the process – called GrungeFX.

In this tutorial we use X-Particles and Cinema 4d to create corrosion effectsMike Batchelor

Here, Mike takes the corrosion effect one step further, by setting up X-Particles to generate geometry on the leading edge f the corrosion effect. This will help sell the effect when it is being animated, having it look like one surface is being eaten away by the other.
