Pete Anderson shows the use of Maya’s Sculpt and Blend Shape Deformers to get a “soft eye” effect if the lids of the eye deforming slightly when the eye turns around its socket. Pete also shows how to get around some of the Blend Shape quirks as well as automating the effect.
