Exocortex posts a look at the new Slicer feature up and coming in the soon to be released Exocortex Implosia FX 1.7 update for Softimage. The Slicer feature will allow you to cut any object with any other object and then fracture the result as a mesh, which is pretty slick.

Exocortex ImplosiaFX enables advanced customizable fracturing/shattering as well as robust, fast and scalable CSG boolean operations. ImplosiaFX builds upon the powerful ICE Modeling framework introduced in Autodesk Softimage 2012 and is fully compatible with the rigid body simulation features of Exocortex Momentum .

The new “Slicer” feature will be presented in the 1.7 update. Its allow to cut any piece of target geometry by any other geometry and fracture this sliced chunk as a usual mesh. This update also includes almost all features ported as operators for better stability and simplified usability, so it is also possible to run it from xsi2010 and up.

Exocortex ImplosiaFX supports Autodesk Softimage 2012 and later on Windows x86 and x64 (Linux support coming soon.) Floating and node locked licenses are available starting at $249. Existing Momentum 2 and 3 customers can buy ImplosiaFX for $199
