The great Derya Öztürk (Yader), provides a quick tip for how you can hack for getting Cinema 4D Thinking Particles to emit from surface from Clones in your scene.

Here’s a neat hack which can help you to emit Thinking Particles from Clones surfaces

Yader technique consists of “tricking” the PMatterwaves node into accepting Cloner Objects as valid polygon geometry with Uv’s. this is done by using an arbitrary UV Tag on a Collision Deformer which can actually be seen as a polygon instance in Cinema 4D. Yader notes that this technique will also work with Generators in Cinema 4D, so you should be able to emit Thinking Particles from an animated Sweep NURBS.
