e-on software continues to push the boundaries with it’s Vue product line for creating natural 3D environments. With the release of Vue 11, e-on has introduced a new EcoParticle system that will allow you to create dust, rain, snow and other atmospheric effects for your 3D environments.

With this tutorial you will learn how to quickly add rain to your scenes, using the new Rain Atmospheric effect in Vue 11, and how to create a collision map to create highlights each time a rain drop hits the ground

This is short look at how the new EcoParticle technology is integrated in Vue 11 by showing how you can create some rain in a scene. Instead of using standard emitters, Vue has chosen to search for better methods for creating particles that would be better suited for 3d environments, so instead by contrast of particle emitters, you are able to create a precipitation area and tweak rain strength, rain size, and drops speed.

Rather than creating simple emitters, and having particles grow out of them, we designed a new way of handling particles that is specifically well suited for Digital Nature

That is not to say that the new EcoParticle system will not be able to do “standard” particle type stuff, as this is possible as well, however it does a lot more than you may be used to by using standard particle emitters. For Example, the EcoParticle system also has a new Effector in Vue 11 that will influence the EcoParticles in the scene. This will allow you to create things like believable fog, tornadoes and control attributes like attraction and jitter quite easily.

EcoParticles are also physically accurate providing inherent dynamics where EcoParticles can collide, fall, bounce and interact with forces or even each other.
