After Effects | Removing an Object from Footage with Mocha AE

By November 6, 2013No Comments

Mocha comes bundled with After Effects as well as hitFilm as well as having a “pro” version. One of the key differences is the Mocha Pro comes with a remove module making object removals a trivial task.

If however, you don’t have Mocha Pro, Gardner Raymond of Consequence Video Designs shows how to remove objects from a shot by using mocha AE and compositing a clean plate back in, essentially doing it manually.

Gardner demonstrates the workflow between creating a clean plate, tracking the shot, and using After Effects to composite the clean plate back into the original shot, removing the name painted on the back of the boat.
