Previously I posted on this site Robin Wilson’s adventures in creating Penrose Tiling in Blender and extends his efforts over to non-periodic tiling in general, creating a script that can generate hundreds of types and styles of non-periodic tilings in Blender.

This one is able to generate hundreds of kinds of non-periodic tilings

Robin’s breakthrough moment of discovery was that most patterns can be generated using simple substation algorithms, and here he briefly explains the theory, showing an example of the Kite-Domino tiles algorithm.

Robin shows how to model the prototiles needed for the script, and shows how to define the substitution rules, set the initial conditions and create and run the script. Check out the tutorial for Creating Non-Periodic Tiling Script in Blender here.
