One of the most confusing things about rendering is keeping a linear workflow throughout the process. I think the concept of linear color is fairly straight forward, but perhaps the confusion lies in individual application’s integration and implementation of linear color workflow.
[blockquote source=”Alexander Vasiliuk -vrayart.com”]The purpose of this setup is speed, and you need it in order to move faster towards the final image. Here’s a video tutorial that will explain how to work with Linear rendering method for Exteriors[/blockquote]V-Ray certainly handles Linear workflows without too much trouble in comparison to mental ray, in Maya especially. On that topic, VrayGuide’s Alexander Vasiliuk takes a look at lighting and rendering setups an exterior scene while keeping the process in a linear workflow.
Alexander is using 3ds Max in this demonstration, and for the most part, V-Ray is V-Ray regardless of the host it is in. So a lot of the features and techniques will be the same, although there are a few max-specific things here.
The Scene can be downloaded for free at VrayART’s site, where Alexander Vasiliuk and Stanislav Orekhov provide training for the world of photorealistic 3D Architectural Renderings.
