Epic Time-Lapse HDRI Sky Domes Are Epic

Hyperfocal Designs have been creating and selling HDRI Sky Domes for a while now, priding themselves on creating technically accurate and unclamped products for the CG artist since 2002. Recently, Hyperfocal has launched a new type of content, time-lapse HDRI sky domes.

Time-Lapse skies can do so much for an animation – they can take otherwise completely static shots and make them look interesting and full of wonder

Time-Lapse HDRI Sky Domes

Jay Weston uses his Nikon D800E and a custom made battery to shoot time-lapse footage of the entire sky hemisphere from sunrise to sunset.

Time Lapse HDRI Skys

  • 9500 x 4750px lat long

  • True unclamped HDRI up to 16EV for bright midday skies

  • Linear 1.0 Gamma

  • Color Corrected with the Spydercheckr Pro

  • Up to 1200 frames per time-lapse, in EXR Piz Wavelet format

  • Completely clean and clear horizon lines in all directions

Each time-lapse HDRI sky domes are shot over the course of a day and are made up of 254 individual EXR frames.

The HDRI’s are shot as un-clamped, fully hemispherical images that measure 9500 pixels around -so they can be very accurate when used for a render.

Using time-lapse HDRI sky domes can bring an animation to life, offering some dynamic sky and light changes as the animation progresses.

I can easily see time-lapse HDRI sky domes being a popular product with environment artists and architectural visualizations, clearly showing off what a visualization will look like during the course of the day or night.

Don’t waste any more time with dull, hastily shot HDRIs. You won’t find any clamped suns, you won’t have to paint them in yourself, you wont have to adjust gamma or setup your own lighting. Just load the HDRI environment into your scene, choose the intensity level and alignment, and you have yourself a highly realistic, image based lighting solution.HyperfocalDesign.com
