Creating Nuke Screen Space Ambient Occlusion Between Two Deep Images

Technical Director Marco Romeo shares a Nuke Gizmo he created that can compute the screen space ambient occlusion between two images that have deep and depth information.

easily generate a Screen Space Ambient Occlusion pass between two deep images inside Nuke

When using two images that have deep info, you can easily control the placement of the images in Z-space using the deep information.

However they two images will lack the visual cues for interaction with each other. This is where Marco’s screen space Ambient Occlusion tool comes in.

The Nuke Gizmo makes use of BlinkScript, and implements the effect on the computer’s GPU.
