Creating a Crumbling Effect on a Character in Maya

By August 6, 2014No Comments

The CGPedia.com site have been posting a flurry of pretty great tutorials at an astonishing pace. Recently adding a look at recreating one of the scenes from the movie Rango, where the main character dries up and sheds his skin, breaking it apart and having it crumble to the floor.

This is a pretty long tutorial, and it goes through every step of how to create the effect. Interestingly enough, it doesn’t use any shattering plugins, just some creative uses for natively available tools within Maya, such as the Nucleus engine.

Check out the tutorial for creating a crumbling effect in Maya  here.
