An Introduction to MaterialX Data Model in Maya LookdevX

LookdevX 1.3 has introduced the MaterialX data model, and here is a look at it in action.

MaterialX is a new open-source material description standard that captures the layered complexity of real-world assets. Lucasfilm, Autodesk, and Allegorithmic jointly developed it.

Recently, Autodesk released LookdevX 1.3 and introduced the MaterialX data model. In this tutorial, Yingying will walk you through the MaterialX workflow and show you some new UI features in MaterialX.

With LookdevX 1.3, you can now graph shading networks and create materials in USD and MaterialX. This practical tool allows you to build materials that seamlessly work across multiple DCCs and render engines, empowering you to work more efficiently.
