By August 11, 2014No Comments

creativMotion posts a tutorial in using HDR images for lighting, offering a look at the fundamentals of HDR lighting in Cinema 4D. Using an HDR image for lighting, or IBL (image based lighting) provides the opportunity to make your renders much more lifelike. It also offers the ability to take care of all the scenes reflections as well as lighting the scene in a more nuanced and sophisticated way.

creativMotion has a look at what is involved with creating an HDR image and what makes the HDR different from a standard image. He then moves to look at using HDR images within Cinema 4D and making it work with C4D’s global illumination. Aslo of note is the discussion on the relationship between specular and reflection with the standard materials in C4D and how they are affected by global illumination and HDR lighting.
