Using the Using the Sun Beams Node in Blender 2.72

Luca Scheller posts a look at using the new Sun Beams in Blender 2.72. The newly introduced Sun Beams node, as the name suggests will allow you to create crepuscular rays or God rays from an image or alpha input.

control the animated direction of the new sun beams node in Blender using a tracking point and expression.

As useful as that sounds (and it is) the new tool in its current state, does not have an option to connect an X/Y coordinate which it would need to create animation. You could animate the node manually, but Luca shows a more automated and assisted method.

His workaround uses a tracking point in Blender with a driver and an expression to automate the animation of the Blender Sun Beams Node. Check out the tutorial for Blender 2.72 | Using the Sun Beams Node here.
