Over the last little while Rhino for OS X has been in perpetual development. The latest release version of the OS X version suggest there may be a release soon, stating that Rhino for Mac is nearly production ready.

Rhino for Mac is nearly production ready.

Rhino is a strong NURBS and Solids modeler with some great features, all of which have been sadly missed on other platforms other than windows systems.

Robert McNeel & Associates runs a WIP (work in progress) type of development for their products. It is a bit of an unusual development cycle where the company likes to release early and incomplete versions to garner user feedback. The Mac version of Rhino follows the same development style.

There are a few features missing from the OS X version, but for the most part the application is parallel with the Windows version.

The vision for Rhino 5 started more than five years ago with the goal of better workflow, and a faster application that can handle much larger models and project team workflows.

All of this of course is in addition to making thousands of large and small improvements to Rhino along the way.

For more information on the Mac version, the McNeel Wiki page has lots of information, and FAQ, and download to be part of the feedback cycle for brining Rhino to OS X.
