Procedurally Adding Smudges and Scuffs in Blender

Adding dirt, grease and smudges will really bring your 3D work to another level. The subtle additions of smudges and dirt can add a level of realism to a render, but adding them manually doesn’t always hit it home.

Here, Artist Cedric Van der Kelen shows an easy way to create smudges and dirt procedurally in Blender. We have seen some techniques to bring procedural dirt and smudges to Blender, before. Cedric’s trick is to use a node that doesn’t seem to garner a lot of attention. The Separate HSV node can give you some cool effects when applied to a simple noise node in Blender.
