bhGhost is Brian Horgan’s free tool that allows Maya animators to easily onion skin or ghost elements in the viewport. Recently, a small but useful update to bhGhost sees the addition of “hide on playback”.

A new update for bhGhost, will give better performance when ghosting heavy geometry

Hide on playback uses a new feature in the Maya 2016 viewport which will… well… hide things on playback.

Performance will vary using bhGhost, if your model is a dense one. The latest version for the ghosting tool will let you set a preference to hide the ghost shapes oh playback.

The previous release of the animation tool saw the addition to use Maya’s Quick Select Sets to only outline certain parts of a character. Both of these new features make it simpler to focus on your animation making the viewport less cluttered and more efficient.
