Create Super Realistic Rain and Splash Effects in Blender

The CG Geek shows how to create a fantastic scene with rain and splash effects in B3D.

Rain is not that difficult an effect to create thanks to particle systems and instances. However, getting a super-realistic rain effect complete with splashes as they hit the ground is a little more challenging. There are several ways that you can approach this effect. Check out this new tutorial from the CG Geek Steve Lund, who shows how to create a fantastically realistic rain and splashes in Blender.

Lund walks through the whole thing, including creating the ground plane model, texturing, lighting, setting up the raindrops, creating the splashes, and rendering out the animated sequence. What’s nice is that you can get a pretty good interpretation of the animation using the Eevee viewport even before rendering.
