How to Create a Softbody Fracture With Houdini

By November 4, 2019No Comments

Roman Pillai shows how to use Houdini Vellum to create a soft body fracture simulation.

Rigid body fractures seem more natural to work within 3D. That is unless you work with Side FX Houdini. The Vellum solver in Houdini handles a lot of FX work, including soft body stuff like cloth, and beyond. This latest tutorial from Roman Pillai shows how to simulate a fractured mesh using the Vellum solver.

The tutorial also shows how to replace the low poly simulation objects with the high polygon re-projected mesh in anticipation of the final rendering. The materials and rendering for the project come from Cinema 4D. Download the scene file for the project here.
