Freeze a Smoke Simulation in Time Using Blender

Blender Made Easy shows how you can quickly freeze a smoke simulation in Blender for new effects.

A smoke simulation is no big deal in today’s Blender app. There are lots of ways that you can easily create billowing smoke with a few clicks. A new tutorial from the Blender Made Easy channel shows how you can freeze a smoke simulation in place and even start it up again whenever you want in the timeline.

The tutorial doesn’t use VDB or meshing, just some simple blender tricks to freeze time. “I will be showing you how just to have a single frame of smoke and how to pause the simulation and resume it at a different point in the animation.” Pausing a simulation in this way can lead to some visually striking effects.
