Recreate C4D’s Step Effector in Blender

Blue Fox Creation shows how you can build something similar to the Step Effector using Animation Nodes.

In a continuation of creating motion graphics setups in Blender that mimic some of Maxon Cinema 4D’s features and toolset, Blue Fox Creation shows how to recreate the Step Effector. While Blender had some motion graphics like tools on its own, the recent addition of ANimation Nodes expanded that by leaps and bounds.

Recreate the Step Effector.

The step effector in Cinema 4D is a simple concept. It allows users to take a defined transformation and apply it to the last clone and also the alterations of the clones in between. In blender Animation Nodes, it’s all about instances and matrix distributions and offsets, which all sounds much more complicated than it is.

Animation Nodes.

Animation Nodes is a visual scripting system designed for creating motion graphics in Blender. Like most Mograph tools, it allows you to create instances and animations procedurally. Created by Jacques Lucke, Animation Nodes is now part of the Blender team. Jacques Lucke is not only working on Animation nodes but a larger project called “Everything Nodes.” The project hopes to make Blender’s animation, particles, and modeling toolset much more powerful.
