Simon Verstraete walks through how he created his Houly Rock Generator.
In this new walkthrough from Houdini Artist, Simon Verstraete walks through his Houly entry, a rock generator that was part of July’s everyday challenge.
The breakdown offers a step by step walkthrough of each node in the network. Verstraete starts with making the base shapes by scattering points and copies a platonic shape on it.
“Further noises or triplanar displacement gets the detail into the shapes,” Verstraete continues. “A cool part in the video as well is how to procedural color them.”
“The color is stored in the point/vertex and baked into a texture that you could use in other programs to finalize the material.”
