How to Get a Blue Flame With Maya Bifrost

By September 7, 2020No Comments

Discover how you can set up and render a blue flame with Maya Bifrost.

A new tutorial from Youtuber JMM71 shows how you can use to create a realistic flame in Autodesk Maya’s Bifrost Graph. While there are plenty of tutorials out there that show how flames work, this one shows us how you can create a blue flame effect.

JMM71 notes that there are likely a few ways to achieve a blue flame heat result in Bifrost; this one happens to be his workflow for playing with temperature and color. The tutorial references a masterclass from Principal engineer Michael B. Nielson who one time had a look into the parameters of the Bifrost combustion solver. Nielson walks through each of the parameters exposed, what they mean, and how they map to the solver’s underlying physics.
