Latest U-Render Adds Realtime Toon Shading and NPR

The U-Render team recently released 2022.4 of the viewport renderer that brings brand-new features for Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR), Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI), Multi-materials, Sharpening filter, an easy-to-use installer, and a free assets library.

NPR.

The NPR rendering will allow artists to get real-time rendered toon shading right in the viewport. The U-Render real-time NPR features package offers you many functions. Some of those functions are color gradients, specularity, emissive, displacement, and overwrite lines.

SSGI.

Also in the latest release is SSGI or Screen-Space Global Illumination. SSGI helps you create a more authentic looking real-world lighting environment by adding indirect lighting within the screen view area.

Other Hosts in the Works.

Maybe you’ve wanted a proper real-time rendering solution for your host. There seems to be some good news in that realm, where the U-Render team is working on integrations with new host applications. Yes, Maya is coming, and it is needed there too.
