How to Use Substance Painter to Create Tileable Environment Materials

Wes McDermott looks at using Substance Painter to create tiling environment materials and meshes.

This new tutorial by Wes McDermott offers some great techniques for using a substance painter to create some tileable environment materials. The tutorial covers blending materials working with displacement, and using Painter’s brush tools to fix any issues.

Wes creates and exports a mesh from Painter with textures as a nanite mesh in Unreal Engine 5.

Also, the video runs through the process of rendering the exported displacement map using substance Stager, which helps check the displacement and produce some Ray Trace renders.
