When Patrick Woo makes the same changes repeatedly, he comes up with a way to automate the process. In Side FX Houdini, the grid is central to many procedural setups. So why not make the grid more intuitive and easier for that workflow?
Patrick found that the grid’s dimensions usually have to change, and the density of the grid lines has to change as well. “When we change the dimensions, the number of rows and columns also has to change because scaling either dimension will change the sizes of the grid lines too!”
Over time Woo came up with a setup that allowed him to specify a consistent density regardless of the grid width and height. Download the grid setup here.
