cgSide shows a fast way to create rock assets in Side FX Houdini using VDBs.
A new tutorial from cgSide shows how to create rock assets in Side FX Houdini using a VDB workflow. VDB is an easy way to get interesting shapes and details. With a basic primitive and a Mountain SOP to get the basic form, cgSide converts that into a volume and then convert the volume to polygons.
The video isn’t the first cliff-side tutorial from cgSide. A little while ago, he posted a dive into creating rock elements with Bifrost that use volumes, meshing, and scattered vegetation.
The tutorial covers all the settings, but if you want to download the file with all the custom textures and the model, it’s on cgSide’s patreon.
