Working With the New Split to Instances Node in Geometry Nodes

Mr. Steve quickly shows how the new Split to Instances node works in Blender 4.1 Geometry Nodes.

Instancing is a vital part of procedural workflows, and the latest incarnation of Blender 4.1 and Geometry Nodes has a new tool for working with them. Split to Instances allows you to easily split incoming to instances, including passing Group IDs.

Mr. Steve quickly runs through the new node’s capabilities and works through some demonstrations of it in use.

Under the purview of Geometry Nodes, the new Split to Instances node separates a geometry into multiple pieces based on a group ID while allowing you to choose a domain of point, edge, face, spline, instances, or layers.
