Rigging a Branch or Vine in After Effects with Natural Bend and Spring Like Motion

Daniel Gies shows some simple techniques in After Effects for creating some spring motion to an organic branch or vines with some null objects, (parented together and acting as joints) and a bit of expressions which will provide some natural motion for sway and reaction.

Learn some pretty simple techniques for creating a springy organic vine or branch. This method could be used for fishing rods, diving boards, vines, tails, rope and more

Creating Bend and Multiplier sliders, Daniel applies expressions to the null’s rotation that will ultimately gets applied to the sliders for some great controls. Daniel also explains a concept for a point like contraint for objects in After Effects that will allow you to have the benifits of parenting in After Effects without the parent effect on the rotation or scale channels.
