Using Texture Offset to Break Up Visible Patterns in modo 701

By April 29, 2013No Comments

Yazan Malkosh of 9b Studios demonstrates the Texture Offset feature in modo 701 and using it to create a more organic feel in textures by adding a 2D offset based on greyscale values. Texture Offset will allow you to select textures above a material, and offset it in 2D space, breaking up the edges.

A helpful feature in breaking most texture layers to a more organic and grungy feel by introducing a 2d offset to the texture based on black and white values

Yazan demonstrates texture offset with some textures, showing how simple it is to hide seams and repeating patterns simply by offsetting them from each other, creating a more organic and grungy look to the textures, especially if you are using a procedural texture to mask the effect.
