Tools4D recently demonstrated some new additions to the DEM Earth plugin for Cinema 4D, and here Mike Batchelor provides a nice overview of the features of DEM Eath and some of the workflow for creating 3D Maps based on Digital Elevation Model Data.

DEM Earth automatically downloads data, all you really have to do is provide a Geographic coordinate of the section of model that you want built – it couldn’t be easier.
The latest version is DEM Earth 1.09 which adds an account option to choose from a selection of opensource map layers of which you can easily download and georefernce them onto DEM Earth. Meaning you no longer need to rely on the use of external programs to get image map layers, streamlining the entire process.
