maya to after effects automated script

By April 16, 2010September 23rd, 2010No Comments

Rideshare posts and shares a script that he is working on to ease the maya to after effects workflow. The Maya to AE MAEL script automates a bit of the process in exporting your Maya scene to After Effects by streamlining the process. The script is in beta however so far it will

  • create your ASCII file
  • Option to rename all locators with the prefix “null_”
  • Bakes all objects within the given frame range
  • Scale scene option: fixes scene scale issue without having a ton of scale nulls in your AE project
  • Fixes naming issues when in After Effects. Removes the annoying “Shape” text that gets added to all the nulls and cameras when imported.
  • Deletes all unnecessary objects so that it doesn’t crash AE when trying to import complex scenes

Feel free to download the script and give it the once-a-round for kicks.
