Guide for Scanning Environments for VFX with PhotoScan

By July 1, 2015One Comment

Classy Dog Film’s James Candy offers up a comprehensive guide for scanning environments for visual effects. James covers some best practices that he has developed through his own experiences.

Part one covers natural and organic environments and how to best approach getting the material needed to create good 3D mesh and textures for the subject. James uses Agisoft PhotoScan in his workflow, however the tutorial here doesn’t actually over using the software. Rather it is meant to be a guide as to how to get the best material so that you will get the best results when you go scanning environments. Most of these techniques will apply to all photogrammetry software, not just Photoscan.
