Three Ways for Modeling a Screw in Cinema 4d

There are a few objects that are great practice to learn modeling from. Some seemingly simple objects pose some really great challenges when you try to model them for details.

These can be objects like a screwdriver, a pencil, a teacup or coffee mug, and of course, anything that has a helical thread… such as the screw.

Here, Cybear shows three different methods that you can use for modeling a screw in Cinema 4D. As mentioned in the video, the techniques will greatly vary depending on how close you need to be to render the object.

If your scene has a screw that is farther from the camera, you can likely get away with a simple texture. Closer up, and you will need to model a screw with all the details.

Here, Cybear shows a technique for modeling a screw using a sweep. The most realistic option shows how to extrude with some spline tricks to assist with the details.
