The RPC is a new feature with the HE2, called the Thin Client. It can extend the reach of the Engine, by moving simulations to a separate server process. You can use multiple concurrent Houdini simulations and distribute the calculations on the network, and integrate HE2 with hosts on a wide variety of platforms.
