If you ever have wondered if there was a super-easy way to add some dimension to photos in After Effects using a camera move… Well yes, there is — Displacements.

Instead of delicately cutting images out and fixing the background, you can easily create a dynamic  animation by using displacements instead.

Here, Motion Array shows how you can easily create a great looking animation on 2D elements that have the appearance of 3D.

This is done by using displacements in After Effects that will make the image take on a 3d look.

Creating a mask to create a black and white (or greyscale) image that can be used to drive the displacement, offers a super quick way to add a subtle camera move to images.
