This new tutorial from Rohan Dalvi shows how to recreate a classic stylized glowing orb animation in Side FX Houdini. The tutorial covers creating an anime-style magic effect using Houdini’s procedural toolset.
The effect has three components: the sphere, the shockwave, and then the floating particles, which all come together in a practical and real-time texture-based effect on a SOP level.
