Johan Billgren inspired by Riccardo Albertini (known as The Rocket Panda), shows how to give objects that dynamic jello feel by combining a SoftBody Tag in Cinema 4D with a mesh deformer to get a soft bodied dynamic effect while trying to retain the objects shape, giving the object the feel of a gelatinous surface.

…In this very first Polycubes tutorial I’ll show you how to combine the soft body dynamics tag with the mesh deformer. This makes it possible to transfer movement from low-poly objects to High-poly objects without having your computer crashing…

Riccardo has briefly described the process in a post a while back, cleverly stating “One does not simply pick a complex 3D model and apply a soft body tag on it”.

The technique is a bit more involved using two resolutions of objects, defining the low one as the “cage” for the main object that has the SoftBody Tag on it, and the main or high resolution object that has the deformer applied.
