Brian Horgan provides a super quick glimpse into one of the new features coming up in Cinema 4D R14 which is the ability to import and export the Alembic file format.

Here, Brain shows that it is possible to cache out Cinema 4D MoGraph Cloners and bring those into another 3D application, in this case he brings the animated 3D Objects into Maya, completely in tact. In actuality, it is possible to bake (cache) out anything really, from tracers, to objects, particles, and dynamics.

Being able to develop a geometry cache for animations has always been an important step in the 3D workflow especially before rendering; However it wasn’t until recently that there was an open and standard file format that was filled by the Alembic effort.
