VFX supervisor, matchmover, and compositor Julian Herrera who has previously offered useful tools for After Effects such as 3D to 2D ScreenSpace is now providing an advanced look at his new tool for After Effects called AE Control.

However, one key advantage AE Control would have is project sensitive paths. Meaning the software, when folder browsing, will open to a location that makes sense rather then the last location or an arbitrary location

Using Fusions method of opening Python Scripts from outside of the Fusion application, Julian took that model as inspiration for creating something similar for After Effects. AE Control is a stand alone application written in JavaScript, and as its name suggests, AE Control provides fine-grain management of After Effects Projects Files, Shots and Assets, and compositions.

AE Control offers a much faster way to browse and open After Effects Projects, and as it stands, AE Control can also be customized to fit in with a small to medium studios pipeline, offering the ability to add your own custom logo or studio’s brand to the interface. Julian notes that AE Control is still in Alpha phase and will be released once the kinks are worked out of the importer.
