Create Xpresso Nodes in C4D By Typing Using QCmds Plugin

The commander in Cinema 4D will allow you to create any type of object in C4d, simply by typing. This can be a huge workflow change, saving time in searching and clicking to create elements in your scene. The one issue with the Commander, is that it can’t create Xpresso nodes. If you are the nerdy type and like to use expressions in most everything you do, then the QCmds plugin is for you.

The QCmds plugin for Cinema 4D works as an alternative to the native Commander tool

Johannes Kollender shares his plugin for Cinema 4D that will allow you to type and create Xpresso nodes in a “custom” commander tool. QCmds is meant as a replacement for C4D’s native Commander Plugin. It works just like Commander would. You can create objects and elements by typing its name. The difference is that QCmds will allow you to also create Xpresso Nodes.

To use the QCmds plugin, just place the folder in your C4D plugins directory, and assign it a shortcut. Type the name of any object, tag or node you want to create.

Depending on your input QCmds will find a list of options that match your criteria. You can cycle through the available options using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Hit return to create or escape will drop it without doing anything.
